P-3 SCHOOLS

P-3 SCHOOLS

P-3 Schools is part of the SUN Service System. The P-3 coordinators located in 3 Portland Public Schools align early learning and K-3 around a core focus on family leadership that is parent-centered and provides opportunities for parents to use the skills they have as leaders and experts in their own lives and communities. P-3s foster collaboration with early learning partners and projects and build support in the school and community for the school as a hub for early learning.

The P-3 coordinators serve families with young children, prenatal-3rd grade with a particular focus on:

  • Families of color

  • Families with children who do not have access to preschool

  • Families who speak languages other than English

  • Families with children receiving early childhood special education services

  • Families living in public housing facilities

The P-3 schools are based around three core components:

  1. Early Learning Activities such as Play and Learns and EKT

  2. Family Engagement and Support which include Parent Leadership activities, home visiting and resource navigation

  3. School Partnerships and Initiatives

  • Rigler Elementary

    Cesar Chavez Elementary

    Kelly Elementary

  • Children Prenatal to 3rd grade who are attending or will be attending any of the 3 schools listed above.
